Swearengen tasks Farnum with regaining the Garret claim, while Alma Garret enlists the aid of Calamity Jane and Wild Bill Hickok. Respect between Hickok and Bullock deepens, leading Hickok to entrust Bullock with evaluating the Garret claim. Meanwhile, an unwell Andy Cramed returns to the Bella Union, and Wild Bill Hickok faces a sudden downturn in his poker fortunes.
