Miniatures artist Annie suffered a lifetime of trauma at the hands of her psychotic mother. When she finally passes away, her daughter hopes to keep her own family from the same pain. Yet a looming creative deadline only amplifies the dysfunction, and tragedy soon rocks the family again. Growing isolated in her own home and comforted by a mysterious stranger, Annie finds it harder to distinguish between reality and nightmare as the true depths of her mother's machinations come to light.
